Set up Nonoh in Ekiga of Ubuntu to Use VOIP

The voip (voice over IP) service offered by Betamax company is very good and deserves a try. These products include Nonoh, 12voip, VoipStunt, PowerVoip ect.

For windows users, you can download an application directly from the official website of each product, and install it into your Windows box.

So what is the case for those Linux users? Such as me using Ubuntu 10.04.

There are a lot of voip applications in the open source world, e.g. Linphone, Ekiga etc, which are designed to use SIP service on Linux operating system.

To enjoy the convenience of these non-official applications, you have to install and set up the applications correctly.

Taking Ekiga and Nonoh as an example, I would like to show you how to do it.

Step 1: Download the software and install it (Picture 1). For Ubuntu users, it is very easy via “Ubuntu Software Center”.

Here is the explanation.

Authentication User Name: your nonoh account name, which you have already registered on the website
Password: The password for the User Name.
Timeout: Do not change it, leave it as the default value, 3600.
Enable Account: Tick it, the default setup is already being ticked.

Step 5: Click “OK” to finish the setup procedure.

Step 6: Now, you can call telephone numbers, just dial the number and choose, then click the green telephone button (Picture 5). Of course, you should have enough credits to call.

You can also add accounts like powervoip etc. using similar information which can be found on their official website.
